Dad's walk to the Lord

A guy named Ron Dodd was sharing the same Hospital room as Dad and became aquatinted with each him during his stay. Yesterday they began to talk to each other about something Dad rarely -if ever talks about. He could tell Dad was a bit scared about his current state of health, especially after he himself heard the recent Doctors comments. That is when he asked Dad, "have you ever thought about where you will spend eternity?". 

That is quite a question to ask considering Ron was in the Hospital himself with double Coronary valve surgery. Dad's reply was "not really, what exactly are you asking me?". "I'm asking you if you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ?" Ron said. Dad got tears in his eyes Ron said, and replied "no, I don't believe I do.."

Even though Ron was still pretty sick and recovering from his own operation, he got up out of his bed and walked over to Dad and took him by the hand. He said "I'd like to know if you want to meet Jesus today, and invite him into your life?". "We are both pretty sick, and one heartbeat away from meeting our maker, don't you think it's time?" said Ron. Dad accepted the offer and Ron told him what he was about to do, and made sure Dad understood, then Ron began to pray with Dad one prayer at a time, going slow and having Dad repeat what Ron was saying to the Lord.

Dad made Jesus his personal Lord and Savior yesterday because of the bravery of a man who knew God was calling him to action. 

Afterwards. Dad talked about his family and where they went to Church, Ron asked him "do you go go Church somewhere?" and Dad's reply was "I'm not a member but I've gone to James River Assembly a few times and love hearing Pastor Lindell on Sunday morning TV.."

"What a coincidence!" said Ron. Ron and his wife are on the prayer team at James River, and he told Dad he felt like God brought them together in that Hospital. Ron asked for my home number so he could call and share the story with me, in case Dad never brought it up.

I called Ron and his wife this morning and thanked them for being so brave to approach someone like Dad.
